Tig Notaro strolled into comedy legend on Saturday night, walking on stage at the Largo, a comedy club in L.A., saying, “Thank you, thank you, I have cancer, thank you, I have cancer, really, thank you.”
And that was just the beginning. As Tig recalled the bizarre, horrible last few months of her life, from a bacterial infection that made her lose 30 pounds to her cancer diagnosis and the death of her young mother, she did it with grace, and humor, and the audience laughed and cried along, at one point literally screaming at her not to stop.
Comedian and writer Kira Hesser wrote a must-read recap, and Louis CK (who was secretly attending the show) called it a “truly great, masterful” standup set.
If you like, you can get to know Tig a little better with our profile from a few weeks ago. And, seriously, if you like comedy, read the recap of her Saturday set. We only wish we could have been there. We love you, Tig!
I saw Tig a few years ago, she is amazing.
