Another one bites the dust

I had heard about a new restaurant, Burch, going in this spot where the former Burch Pharmacy was at Franklin & Hennepin. I figured they would be using the first floor.

As I’ve driven by over the last several weeks I thought they were renovating the entire building. This morning I noticed parts of the exterior have been removed as well. After reading this StarTrib story, I get the impression the whole building will be demolished which is a shame. It was originally built in 1913 and was a beautiful building. If that is the case, a three story existing structure that could have had multiple businesses and/or housing will be replaced with one restaurant.

Trivia: Paul McCartney reportedly visited Burch Pharmacy in 2005.
